The pregnant Duchess of Cambridge made her first public appearance Sunday

night since her hospitalization for acute morning sickness.

She presented awards at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year event -- which

was broadcast live across Britain.

She had not been seen in public since leaving a London hospital on December

6-th.

A Christmas Carol - Radio Drama

One person was killed and 23 others injured yesterday after a tour bus

crashed into a highway barrier on the National Sun Yat Sen Freeway.

The accident occurred at the 68-kilometer mark near the Yang-mei Interchange

in Taoyuan County at 6AM.

The tour bus was carrying Daoist worshippers and members of a civilian

vigilance team from Nantou County.

Police say the bus driver was trying to avoid rear-ending a crane when he

crashed into the highway divider.

The accident is the third tour bus crash in two weeks.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says ties with Japan will continue to grow.

The statement follows the victory yesterday of Japan's opposition Liberal

Democratic Party in the general election.

According to foreign office officials .... Taiwan and Japan have long

maintained good ties - and these ties are expected to grow even more solid

after the L-D-P's election victory.

President Ma Ying-jeou sent a letter of condolence to U-S President Barack

Obama Sunday -- expressing shock and grief over Friday's deadly school

shooting in Connecticut that left 20 children and six adults dead.

In the letter, Ma extended condolences to the families of the victims and

said Taiwan stands with the American people in this time of sorrow.

Ma also pledged Taiwan's support for President Obama to take swift and

meaningful action to prevent the recurrence of similar tragedies.

The D-P-P held its second and third anti-Ma administration rallies yesterday.

The two rallied are part of the party's 10-rally campaign.

Yesterday's rallies took place in Chong-li City in Taoyuan County and Greater

Taichong.

The D-P-P launched it one-month long campaign Saturday in Taipei - with a

rally at the city's Long-shan Temple.
